The Department of Physical Education plays a vital role in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, sportsmanship, and healthy living among students. The department focuses on exploring students’ physical abilities and enhancing their fitness components for healthful living, personality development, and sports performance.
The department offers the Open Course “Physical Education, Health and Wellness” for fifth-semester undergraduate students and also offers a Multidisciplinary Course (MDC) under the FYUGP curriculum. Through these programmes, students are introduced to the importance of physical fitness, nutrition, health awareness, yoga, recreation, and wellness practices in daily life.
The department actively encourages students to participate in sports and games at intercollegiate, university, state, and national levels. It provides opportunities for students to develop leadership qualities, teamwork, discipline, confidence, and social values through physical education and sports activities.
The department regularly organizes sports training, fitness programmes, intramural competitions, health awareness campaigns, yoga sessions, athletic meets, and recreational activities to ensure the holistic development of students. Special attention is given to promoting a healthy lifestyle and creating awareness about physical and mental wellness.
